Test credit and test token

API billing

A call costs what it really used and never tops the listed price, with free daily credits burning down before paid ones.

Whichever wallet owns the key picks up the bill, just as it would inside the app. Money leaves in this order:

  • Free daily credits: token holders receive $0.50, $0.80, $1.50 or $3.00 per day according to their tier. A fresh amount lands at 00:00 UTC, and leftovers vanish.
  • Paid credits: one transfer of ETH or USDG on Robinhood Chain fills them. See Top up.
  • A refusal: when both run short, the call returns 402 insufficient_credits and costs nothing.

The mode decides the price

ModeYour charge
Anonymous text (market price)The real compute-market cost, usually under the listed price and capped by it
TEE (list price)Exactly the listed price. App only
Images and videoExactly the listed price

For every model, GET /v1/models returns listPrice, and anonymous text models add a live marketPrice. Text is priced per 1 million tokens, media per image or per video job. See API models.

Every call holds money, then settles

  • First, a hold: we set aside a ceiling worked out from the listed price, the size of your prompt and max_tokens (4096 unless you say otherwise). No cover means an instant 402, and lowering max_tokens shrinks the hold.
  • Then, the real bill: reported usage sets the true cost, and whatever is left of the hold returns at once.
  • Provider failure: the hold comes back in full and you pay nothing.
  • Stream cut short: whether you stop it or the model dies midway, you owe for the prompt and for whatever text was generated before the stop.
  • Images and video: held and charged at the listed price.

A spend limit stops one key and nothing else

Set a monthly cap on a key and it applies to free and paid credits alike. Hit the cap and that key alone receives 402 spend_limit_reached until the new month, while your other keys and the app carry on. The Developers page is where you edit or delete the cap.

Three places show your usage

  • Developers page: this month's spend per key.
  • Account page: your wallet's balances, meaning free credits remaining today plus the paid amount.
  • usage in each response: token counts for that single call.
